Saturday 20th September

Meeting Introduction
We are now counting down the days to one of the hardest hitting and most action packed meetings of the year at RDC and Mildenhall Stadium with RDC's No Hype Needed featuring the seventh annual National Banger Old Skool Team Championship and Reliant Robin British Championship

This unique banger team championship, unlike anything else in the entire sport, pits 14 teams of six in an unusual and highly unpredicatable environment where there truly is no way of predicting the outcome and even less of an easy way to victory.

Last years event saw a switch from its usual Sunday afternoon slot in November or December to a Saturday night fixture in September and owing to the success of the 2007 event, the meeting remains in its Autumn position on the fixtures.

The date is Saturday, September 20 and will start at the earlier than usual start time of 6.30pm. Don't be late.

The event follows the format of the team championship events which used to take place at Crayford Stadium in the 1970s and 1980s and it's a format which not only guarantees action but also ensures the winning team will have to fight hard for supremacy.

Throw in the ever fantastic Reliant Robins competing for their British Championship, the second biggest meeting of the season for the 3-wheelers, and you have the makings of another excellent evening of entertainment on the Suffolk shale.

This page will be updated regularly in the build up to the event. Perhaps the most important feature of the page will be the entry of teams taking part which will be updated if we receive any news of changes to the line up but the page is also packed with other information to tell you anything you need to know about the event.

If there is anything else you need to know please e mail wastedmc@btopenworld.com or call RDC on 01268 412299.

Old Skool Team Championship Introduction
The National Banger Old Skool Team Championship returns to Mildenhall on September 20 as part of RDC's annual No Hype Needed and is sure to be an event no banger fan will miss.

Based on the format used in the team championships at Crayford in the 1970s and early 1980s, the head to head heats are guaranteed to provide plenty of action as the six man teams battle it out for a place in the main event and with so much at stake in the Grand Final, this will be an explosive affair.

Many consider the 2008 line up to be one of, if not, the best Old Skool entry to date with all 14 teams potential winners and together they boast the biggest names from RDC and beyond.

The Beck Row Bandits will look to make history with their third consecutive and fourth win in this event while former champions the Gypsy Crew would love another run as champions.

Beyond that the Dover Boys and Damage Inc have won team titles at RDC before but never this one, the Allstars, Six Bolt and Gladiators have won team titles elsewhere and now want their first team championship at RDC.

And the unique format means that for some teams, this meeting is right up their street so expect teams like the Aftermath, Bad News and Team Kamikaze to thrive as well as the Predators and Motley Krew who make their Old Skool debuts in 2008.

And don't forget the Lean Team and Bits and Bobs who both have plenty of fire power in their squads and could easily spring a surprise.

Old Skool Team Championship Rules
The National Banger Old Skool Team Championship features a unique format unlike any other currently used in the sport of banger racing.

The format mirrors one formerly used at Crayford Stadium several decades ago and was resurrected by RDC for this meeting which is about to embark on its sixth successful year.

Once again 14 teams have booked their place for the team event but they all realise that overall victory will not be easy.

Before the start of the meeting the team captains will be present for the random drawing for the qualifying heats. This will pit the 14 teams into seven head to heads where victory will secure them a place in the all important Grand Final.

The draw will have a massive impact on the meeting as not only will the teams be eager to be pitted against a team they believe they can topple but the earlier a heat they contest the more time they will have to repair for the final.

The loosing sides will have one last chance to make it through to the main event via the consolation. In this race all the loosing teams from the heats will be invited to return as many cars as they can repair and the winning drivers will earn his team a place in the championship.

The final will feature all eight victorious teams and again the squads will work hard to repair as many cars as possible for the all important battle in and once again it will be winner takes all.

Victory in the heats and final can be achieved in one of two ways
1. One of the team completes the race distance and takes the chequered flag
2. The race goes to the last car or team running

Following controversy in the final at the 2005 event each of the the races will carry a time limit. If the time limit expires before the race distance is completed or there is a clear cut last team running then the drivers who has completed the most laps will win for their team.

While only one team can take overall victory, those teams who successfully qualify for the final will be the first in line to be offered a place for next year's team event.

This unique banger team championship, unlike anything else in the entire sport, pits 12 teams of eight in an unusual and highly unpredicatable environment where there truly is no way of predicting the outcome and even less of an easy way to victory.

In recent years the event has been moved from its original slot of a Sunday afternoon in the winter to a Saturday night fixture in September and this has helped produce some of the hardest, roughest, toughest and most action packed Old Skools in history.

And last year some small but very important changes were announced to the Old Skool format and we will see these changes in action this year with a reduction of teams involved (from 14 to 12) but an increase in drivers taking part with eight man teams and not six. Furthermore the team which wins the consolation will no longer advance to the final, taking the meeting close to its original format, and therefore the final will boast potentially six teams of eight, rather than eight teams of six.
