PostSubject: Mildenhall 2 litre teams (Nov)   Sat Dec 16, 2006 3:29 pm

MEETING INTRODUCTION

We are counting down the weeks to the first of this season's winter fixtures at Mildenhall Stadium and we are set to commence the closed season programme with a bang with event dubbed as RDC's November to Remember part two.

Following the success of last year, the 2Litre Banger Mildenhall Team Championship remains glued to its new Sunday fixture in November and once more the popularity of RDC's team meetings has shone through with all 40 places snapped up in just 11 days.

And it promises to be an action packed afternoon of banger action with many of the top names from RDC set to be joined by several big name visitors from around the country.

Once again RDC has plotted a unique and different format for the meeting which will encourage team racing and reward high places in the race as well as good team tactics.

Joining the bangers on the bill will the sensational Ministox competing in their annual Trunch Garage Shield meeting which will be open to drivers from all promotions and there will be some great silverware and prizes up for grabs.

Making it an even more important afternoon for the 11 to 16 year olds in the Ministox will be the fact that the meeting is the final round of the 2008 points championships so you can guarantee the young guns will be in top form.

This section of the website has been designed to bring you all the information you need on this bumper afternoon of action. Either use the quick links to find the information you need or simply scroll down the whole page to enjoy the whole section. If there is anything you cannot find please contact RDC by e mailing wastedmc@btopenworld.com or call us on 01268 412299 or 07850 683953.

Introduction

Banger team racing has become a popular fix at RDC over recent years and that legacy is set to continue on November 23 with another huge entry expected for the 2008 2Litre Banger Mildenhall Team Championship at RDC's November to Remember part 2.

Last year saw the event move to a Sunday afternoon fixture after the first two events were held on Saturday nights and as a result the meeting was expanded to allow up to 40 teams and 160 drivers to compete.

We are delighted to say that after the success of last year's event the format remains largely unchanged in 2008 and once again the meeting is fully booked, with all 40 places snapped up within just 11 days of the bookings being opened

And still more teams have been turned away making this one of the most popular and biggest team meetings in the sport.

The expected entry of bangers means the team championship will feature a whopping 11 banger races on the programme, nine qualifying heats, the all important final plus the Destruction Derby making for a feast of banger action.

Once again RDC have comprised a different an unique format for this meeting to give the event its own identity and edge and RDC are confident that the format will produce big fields of cars, action packed racing and a format which will reward race winners and good team tactics.

The whole team championship is mapped out below so use the quick links above to find the information you want or scroll down to read the whole section.

Championship Format

A unique and different format has been designed for this year's 2Litre Banger Mildenhall team championship in order to give the event it's own identity and edge.

The format will encourage team racing and reward good team work with the programme being a mixture of a traditional team meeting format with the popular Old Skool format.

Teams will have three chances to qualify for the all important grand final where the aim will be to qualify as early as possible and with as big a winning score as possible to increase their chances of success come the final.

The qualifying heats will divided into three rounds.
The first round will be heats one, two, three and four with each heat featuring 10 of the 40 teams
The second round will be heats five, six and seven with each heat featuring around 12 of the remaining 36 teams
The third round will be heats eight and nine and featuring half of the remaining 33 teams

In each heat the team which scores the most points will advance to the final. The winning driver will score 15 points and for the rest of the top 10 the points will be score nine to one. In the event of a tie the highest place will determine which team qualifies.

Each winning team will carry it's winning score through the final. Please note that for the second and third rounds the points will be zeroed and all teams will start again from scratch. Thus a team who qualifies in round three will only carry to the final their points scored in round three, not the points from rounds one and/or two.

The final will feature the nine winning teams who will start the event on their winning score. The points in the final will be the double those in the heats and will be added the winning scores from the heats. The team with the highest points overall will be the champions.

Entertainer Awards

This years Mildenhall Team Championship will once again feature a bonus for the teams who like to get stuck in as each of the nine heats will carry a trophy for the best entertainer/wrecker.

This is in recognition that several of the teams competing are not interested in winning or even making the final and are out there to entertain the crowd and get stuck in.

Please note there is no prize money or championship points attached to the entertainer trophy.
