Warton, 27th June, Unlimited Bangers

21 cars were in the pits for the latest Warton Unlimited domestic with plenty of variety amongst the entry. The bilge included a Mazda 626, VW Jetta, Stellar and Bluebird while the Mk3 and Volvo numbered 2 each, the latter including both fresh 244 and 740 estate respectively. 184 Richard Kenyon returned a Merc 230 estate as did 151 Steven Scurr Jnr with a Mk2 limo with 41 Dan Steele also returning a Mk1, 106 Ian Roberts provided a fresh XJ Series 3 while 880 Anthony Kerr provided car of the meeting with a fresh Mk2 limo.

18 out for the opener which got underway with 178 Andy McKinnon weighing into 106 the Rainbow Warriors XJ but putting himself in doing so and was collected by 182 Adrian Oldroyd. 514 Paul Woods then fired up the back of 108 James Willinson in the Bluebird on the back straight as 156 Dave Knight followed in the Rainbow Warrior well on the car park turn killing the latters Jag. 190 Lee Smallwood lost his wheel on turn 3 bringing out the yellows with 573 Allan Odgen leading away the restart from 41 Dan Steele and 514 Woodsy and thats how it stayed with the only other action seeing 287 Tim Nickson put himself in on the run down lap, this being blamed on not having recovered from last nights heavy session!

Down to 15 for heat 2 but it was miles better, 111 Jeff Platt used the Stellar to wall 615 Martin Vickers as Smallwood took 184 Kenyons Merc in with 573 Oggie hitting 511 Steven Scurr Snr on't nose but putting himself in as a result, Platts then taking Woodsy round but paying for it with a shot from Steele as 291 Filthy Boy buried Willinson well into 615 the Wrinkly Wrecker and 151 Young Scurr used the limo to good effect by pulling off a big follow in on 104 Darren Stephens wrecking the latters Jetta well. Woodsy had Platts out on the back straight before doing likewise to Filthy Boy, Steele then firing 119 Chip Kitchen out wide into Kenyon en-route to victory from Woodsy and a recovered Chip.

An actionless final saw Knight wall Willinson on the back straight at the start, Old Man Nickson have 121 Terry Bradley out and Steele wall Willinson as Knight took the win, Steele second and Chip third.

Everyone seemed to load up before the Allcomers which only drew 7 motors back out and the only action seeing 178 Bones having Oldroyd round on back straight with Oggie winning before 5 lined up for the Demo, Filthy Boy sticking it in reverse and Oldroyd obliged with the hit with Oggie inturn firing up the back of the Head Banger, Oggie then going against the flow to hit Willinson DSU but also collected the empty 121 motor in the same move before 108 fired back with a head on. Bones now hit the Bluebird which was just behind the door, Willinson again bouncing back to hit Oggie but finally succumbled to a jacking from Bones which killed the Donald and left Oggie the last one running.

Nothing special as expected but a half decent one by domestic standings and it certainly had its moments with a couple of tidy burials.
