BB-Blooz Boyz B
CA-Commom Crushers A
CB-Common Crushers B
ST-Steam Team
TV-Team V
A little disappointing turn out of around 30 cars for Sheffields annual Battle of Britain 6-aside team meeting. Visitors came from the North West(Team V) and South West which included long travellers BA551 Moley and BB211 Red Hot Barry. Material came in the shape of 6 Jags from BA54 Willis, ST163 Jeremy Nicholls, ST172 Andy Bonser, ST811 Pete Winter, TV684 Alan Morphet and TV688 Wayne Morphet. CA5 Dave Eccles provided a Laurel, TV266 Big Al supplied a Cedric and running mate TV239 Nelly brought along a Mk1. Car of the meeting though was CA450 Glyn Platts smart Mk1 Coupe.
Heat 1 had 17 starters and the Commom Crushers versus Blooz Boyz war kicked off early with CA451 Willie Blackwell weighing into BB205 5 Eyes. CA407 Wack then blitzed the former well, finishing his day before Willis steamed Wack by way of revenge. Willis then copped a blasting off Platts before CB06 Shakey was wasted on turn 1 by persons unseen. CA619 Tommo steamed TV690 Winkie as CB455 Rick Finney hit Moley only to cop one himself from ST151 Justin Woolner. Al Morphet took a good win for Team V.
Down to 13 cars for heat 2 with CB361 Rob Milner putting BB220 Dave Bale in early doors only to cop a steam from Red Hot Barry. Nelly put himself in before Eccles steamed Bale. Red Hot Barry got revenge on Eccles by way of a steam before Bale was well blitzed by Al Morphet. Big Al removed RHB before putting himself in a couple of laps later. Winter took the win for the Steam Team.
Platts spun BA173 Ray Sharrod as heat 3 got underway with Wack then hitting ST536 Annette Nicholls only to cop a hit off Willis. Annette was then black flagged for attacking Wack on the centre but not before she managed to get a hit in on BB201 Wol. The latter was then steamed by Wayne Morphet as brother Alan did Wol head on. W.Morphet steamed Wol next time round as Platts went in unaided. BA97 Dave Allen then attacked Platts before Sharrod landed a hit on Platts as Moley arrived on the scene to steam Platts. Winter again took the chequered.
17 cars returned for the all in final which started off with Wack hitting Sharrod before the latter retaliated by hitting Wack. Allen then gave Blackwell the turn around treatment before W.Morphet met Willis in a meaty head on which snapped the formers Jag. Allen removed Nelly before carrying on give Bonser the same treatment. BA200 Noon then fired up the back of Bonser before fencing him, all in one move as Moley got rid of Nelly. Woolner steamed Willis and BA617 Jack Overy sent Bonser spinning en-route to victory as on the run down lap Winter followed Noon in well on turns 1-2 as Red Hot Barry arrived to steam Winter before the former copped a blitzing from Woolner.
The winners were announced after this with Team V in third place, Blooz Boyz A in second but this years winners being the Steam Team.
Only the DD left now and 10 cars made it back out on track with Bale on the case early by hitting Tommo only to cop a roof bender from Nelly with the latter then copping one up the chuff from Winter. Moley steamed Milner before going onto give Wack the same treatment as Finney then came round to meet Moley in a big head on. Eccles got a hit in on Moley also as Winter hit Eccles. This just left Winter and Finney to meet in a big head on, on the back straight in which no one backed off. Platts was the last one running but had been stationary too long, Finney had recieved outside assistance so the win was given to Winter.
This ended a good meeting with the poor turn out being more than made up for with some brilliant wrecking on track.
