Barrow, 23rd April, Unlimited Bangers Grand Slam

Just 15 cars for this years running of the Grand Slam event at Barrow with plenty of variety amongst the grid. Most of it was used stuff with the pick of the bunch being a well used Mk1 coupe for 720 Rog while 17 Azz had a fresh Mk2 limo hi line but top motor by a country mile was 862 Dave Kingston who impressed with a bubble A90 Westminster.

310 Eno got the action underway with a burial of Azz's limo early in the opener as 305 the General had Kingstons Westy out and 59 Blower did likewise to 146 Flan. The Leveller then did Rog over the back wheel before being buried at the hands of 474 our Matthew. 14 Sausage Boy t-boned 688 Wayne Morphet, the Barrow Boy then taking one from running mate 16 Pob who was blasted inturn by Blower. Our Matthew then steamed the latter before weighing into the General en-route to victory from running mate Eno who was the only other finisher.

190 Banjo spun the Westy as heat 2 began before Pob weighed into the General. Sausage Boy then buried Blower into Pob which was just behind the latters door with Eno then piling Flan through the back of Pob, wasting the latter. Banjo had Sausage Boy out to conclude the action, Eno winning from Banjo and Sausage Boy.

A quiet final saw Blower put our Matthew in hard which proved to be the only action, Eno taking a good win from Banjo, Sausage Boy and Blower. Into the DD with the new champ having Blower out before putting the General in, Sausage Boy then taking the cross country route to t-bone Rog with Morphet nailing 14 who felt the force of Banjo inturn. Azz arrived to bone Morphet as Banjo put Blower in, the Bong man then nailing Eno as Blower turned it round to meet Azz in a mental head on, snapping both cars off a treat. Banjo went in hard over the front wheel of Eno as reds appeared for Azz who exited his wreck shaken but not stirred. The race was declared at this point with a joint win for Banjo and Eno.

A steady day on the whole, couple of good cars, few decent hits with the head on no doubt the highlight.....all topped off with a lovely slice of chocolate cake!
