Barrow, 3rd September, 2 Litre Bangers
A decent field of 16 cars turned out in support of Barrow at their latest 2 Litre meeting. The vast majority were returned motors and mostly FWD but there were a couple of Sierras while 300 Dog End Dan returned a Mk5 Cortina.
688 Wayne Morphet in one of the Sierras, kicked off heat 1 with a hard burial of 331 Little Fella before the returning 36 Turkey had 759 Bitch out who was also delt a head on at the hands of 234 Webby. A recovered Little Fella also nailed Bitch over the front wheel before having 59 Blower out. 146 Flan dished out a big follow in to 190 Banjo, albeit with assistance from 14 Hendry which wrote off the Bong Gang mans Cav. Banjo rolled on impact with the yellows out as a result and a complete restart. 17 Azz put Morphet round as we got underway again while Flan did likewise to 30 Addict who recovered to fire a reversing 16 Pob backwards into the fence. Hendry taking the win.
Heat 2 started with 175 Mallo firing Bitch in before Hendry threw a wheel though it came to rest safely over the fence. 303 Scotty took Mallo out before 246 Steamo put Bitch in and Dog End fired up the back of Mallo. Bitch also had a go at the Barrow Boy with Steamo inturn doing the Leveller. Morphet won this time while Blower saw the race out with an attack on Scotty.
Last race was a scheduled Final into DD but it pretty much started as a demo straight from the off. Hendry weighed into Dog End Dan with Addict also doing him over the front wheel before 59 Kearsleys Bitch stuck it to the Addict. Steamo wiped Scotty around the armco with Blower blasting the latter, Scotty also taking a head on from Webby which wasn't in the scrpit. This allowed Steamo to weigh into Webby who bounced back to stick it to Dog End. The Leveller then took a stiff t-bone from Hendry before Addict steamed Morphet and took one from Steamo as Hendry attacked Morphet. The tractor helped Dog End off the infield banking only for Hendry to do him over the front wheel(Dog End that is....not the tractor!!!) before taking a revenge shot from Morphet as Turkey and Webby enjoyed a head on. Hendry jacked Dog End before meeting Morphet on the nose. The pair shared another head on which virtually earned Hendry the win but meanwhile the tractor was earning it money and had helped Steamo off the armco. Hendry saw this and picked his team mate up, Steamo steering into Dog Ends broken Tina making it a big mess(and putting the side of the cage through the door!), Hendry carrying on to dish out a big shot to Turkey who had been sat in his motor all the while to wrap up an excellent DD.
A decent enough domestic with every race being lively. The DD being the highlight and some good wrecks to stop in the memory. Lets hope the drivers continue to support Barrow for the next meeting which is 1400cc Bangers and then the Chig Memorial and hopefully beyond.......
