THE NORTHERN ARMY

After their loss on home turf here at Hednesford last year - only the second time they have been defeated here in the Hills - the mighty Northern Army have been working overtime to prepare themselves for battle here today. Although details of the physical and psychological rigours they have had to face during their advanced training programme have not been revealed (and with General Kearsley in charge, they are probably best kept under wraps anyway!) the North’s line-up this year is looking like one of the best ever assembled for the annual head-to-head. Let’s take an in-depth look at the soldiers in white lining up for battle today:

LIGHT BRIGADE

1 Leyland Marson
A multi-formula man if ever there was one, Leyland has raced everything from Bangers to Stock Rods and Lightning Rods to Reliant Robins during his career. This should help him in the race for points today - after all, he’s won enough races in the wet at Hednesford in rear wheel drive Sierras, so shouldn’t find handling a Sunny too difficult. Indeed, he won a race in one at the Southern-staged Civil War 6, so should be running at the head of the pack.

16 Rob Howard
Pob will probably have got over the depression of losing his home track of Barrow by now, and will be looking to keep up the good form he has shown at Hednesford in the past. His last race win here came at the National Team Championships in 2005 for the Barmy Army, but he is likely to be wrecking rather than racing today - after all, no-one ever raced purely for points at the legendary Barrow, especially this former Leveller!

21 Gavin Robinson
Probably the youngest member of the Army, Robbo Jnr already has one Civil War appearance under his belt, despite only having competed in a small number of meetings before his War debut last year at the wheel of a Metro. His has the family pedigree - he is the son of Demons star 236 Robbo - and some good training in the Incarace Ministox before he began his Banger career, so he looks set for a decent career in the sport. Let’s see if today acts as a launch pad for his move towards the big time.

62 Dave Eccles
A regular at Warton Stock Car Club, Dave is a member of the Bad Newz side which has made several forays onto Incarace tarmac over the last few years. Dave could prove a shrewd recruitment for the all-Sunny class as he favours the smaller cars greatly, in particular later Sunnys and Pulsars. Could be the ace in the pack for the Northern Army to call on if the going gets tough.

88 Rob Slack
Slacky found his footing racing Incarods and Street Stox before his move into Bangers, so he has good knowledge of Hednesford. He was on course to win the 2006 Hednesford Spring Classic until taken out on the last bend, and took a final win at Birmingham’s New Year bash just a fortnight ago. Slacky may not be one of the household names on the team sheet for non-Incarace fans, but that could all change if he picks up some good points today.

122 Steve Durkin
Mob stalwart Turk has changed tack in his racing approach during the past season, seemingly preferring to take race wins rather than going wrecking. He took a surprise win at last year’s Hednesford Krash Kings event on a guest appearance for the Flying Squad, defeating the Demons in the process, and also took a couple of wins at Birmingham domestics. Even more worringly, he managed to make a Bubble Cambridge last for TWO Hednesford Pre-68 meetings. Hopefully the veteran of this Light Brigade will go back to his wrecking ways today, as without his form there could be a chink in the North’s armour.

143 Sam Begley
The man who has done much of his racing on three wheels in the past in Reliant Robins has been appearing for the Crash Zone team in recent months, including a top performance at Barrow’s West Coast Team Championship. Expect Screamer to be in wrecking mode today on a track he always enjoys racing at.

146 Phil Flannery
A running mate of 16 Pob’s and a man of similar driving ability, Flan favours the smaller cars and can wreck impressively whatever he is driving. Like much of the Army, he put on a good show at the West Coast team meeting at Barrow, and can give or take the big hits no matter what the odds. He should come shining through for the North even when outnumbered.

148 Ian Redden
No stranger to the Light Brigade and almost an automatic choice for the squad thanks to his previous performances in the Metros, Shorty may favour the Mildenhall shale but never disappoints here on the Hednesford asphalt. He may be based more east than North, but that is irrelevant when his previous pedigree for the North is examined. Will surely play a vital role in the small cars.

156 Dave Knight
Dave’s nickname sums him up perfectly - Fullbore. Here is a driver who doesn’t care about winning or losing - so long as he pulls off a monster hit he’s happy! The Warton man impressed at Hednesford’s National Team meeting a few years ago with a superb follow-in from the word go, meaning 530 Mr Ass never even saw the green flag. He was in rated form at Brum’s Children in Need bash last November too, and the South will not be slowing down if they see this man in their mirrors!

183 Bobby Wilmer
Trackstar’s busy domestic scene at King’s Lynn has enabled Wilmer to enhance his skills greatly, although he still prefers to go for the hit rather than the win. A former member of the hard-hitting Aftermath team, he has been one of the quiet achievers of the past 12 months, and could continue that trend today.

252 John Wibberley
One of the most popular drivers on the Midland and Northern scene, Wibbsy will possibly be the wrecker that the North rely upon in the division. The Mob star has never been known to go for the win (apart from when he accidentally won a race at the Pre-68 a couple of years ago!) and his sole wish is to pull off as big a hit as possible every time he races. Don’t expect him to be overtaking anything red.

295 Graham Heywood
A War veteran and one of Buxton’s finest down the years, Havoc has previously been an Infantryman at these annual conflicts, but he should adapt to the smaller class well. He certainly has the experience the North will need to call upon, and can both out-race and out-wreck the best of them.

319 Gary Shovelton
One of Startrax’s hardest hitting performers over the last few years, Shovy has a great knack of making his cars keep on running when all seems lost. Several of his motors have lasted far longer than anyone thought they could in the past, so his car building nous could add to his driving skill - he won a race at the Arena-staged 6th War - to create a rated performance.

401 Steve Webster
The North may have taken a bit of stick for allowing Saloon Stockcar drivers to take part in this premier Banger head to head, but while the rest of the squad concentrate on the wrecking, we need someone who can lead from the front. The Webster brothers fit the bill nicely - Northern and proud, superb drivers and can turn it one with the big hits when things get desperate. Steve may not have won as many titles as his brother, but he is still an accomplished driver nonetheless.

402 Shaun Webster
One of the top names in the Saloon Stockcars alongside his brother, he may have missed out on a third straight World title to David Aldous last year, but this will just make him even hungrier for success in 2007. He performed well at both last year’s Hednesford war and also the 2005 war at Arena, so will be going for more wins today.

470 Pete Corbett
One of the true stars of Buxton Raceway down the years, Pete has a wealth of experience here at Hednesford, including a final win at the Pre-68. He led team Buxton to third in last year’s National Team Champs, and can easily handle a small Nissan Sunny as he has proved at several Buxton 1400cc meetings.

512 Allan Woods
The Invaders are a well-established Northern team as everyone knows, and thanks to Warton’s lively domestic scene Allan, one of the squad’s frontmen, will have been able to get plenty of practice in for today. He has won DDs here at Hednesford in the past, and put on a fine showing at the inaugural 2 Litre World Final. That was back in 2003, but we can guarantee he has lost none of his form since then.

666 Dan Lucas
Yet another of the squadron of Buxton drivers, Taz is another long-serving face who always tries his hardest to entertain, whether dishing out the hits or on the receiving end. He has performed excellently in the Metros at previous wars and is almost an automatic choice for the Light Brigade, so he should be one to keep an eye out for today.

999 Shane Cottrill
A member of the infamous Team Black, Cotty has been honing his skills in the smaller classes at Trackstar for some time now and has numerous titles to his name, including the coveted Bangerstox Gold Roof. He will find handling a Sunny no problem at all, but how will he adapt from the King’s Lynn shale to the fast, wide open asphalt expanses of Hednesford?

INFANTRY

4 Chris Cash
Cashy’s return to Incarace in 2005 met with success, and he has been proving a firm favourite at Birmingham and Hednesford domestics over the past few months - giving some of the promotion’s smaller meetings a kick in the right direction. He is a Nissan Bluebird specialist so has the knowledge of this size of car, and this combined with his Hednesford experience could give him an advantage in the battle for supremacy.

11 Darren Race
With Stinkbridge slowly creeping back onto the Incarace scene, their presence today could give the war a whole new edge. Racey is one of their foremost wreckers of recent times, always obliging with the big hits wherever he races (apart from when he won a race at Skegness last year!). He has been seen in some more modern tin in recent months, most notably Mondeo estates, and if he appears in one of these today he could have a speed advantage over his rivals (Only so he can hit them harder, of course!).

14 Will Walmsley
Probably the biggest star of the late, lamented Roosecote Raceway, Sausage Boy is still only a young gun but he has driving ability beyond his years. He put on a great performance in a Crown at last year’s war until it was destroyed, and took his cavalier to a heat win at the National Team Championships. If he races another of Vauxhall’s finest today, he could be hard to beat.

17 Nick Sweet
The Bruce (no-one seems to know why he is called this!) already has a hard-hitting performance under his belt in 2007, following a fine DD performance at the Brum New Year’s Day bash. He has been a key member of the Barton Boys team for several years, so has more than enough knowledge of his local raceway. He rarely likes to take a win, so will be in the thick of it trashing the best of them today.

51 Simon Hields
A star of Brampton Raceway for some time, the former Common Crusher rose to prominence in 2005 when he became a full member of Stinkbridge. Since then his form has skyrocketed, with top performances all over the nation, particularly on the Coventry shale. He performed well at last year’s war, and has the speed and ability to do even better today.

54 Richard Hayward
On of Incarace’s biggest names, Bandit often finds his best form in the unlimiteds, with a special love of Jaguar XJ-Ss, but today he will channel his wrecking ability into something smaller. He usually prefers to race for the win when in a Bluebird or Cavalier, and is a former Spring Classic champion in the 2 Litre class, so will the Crash Co chief be dodging the bullets or firing the shots today?

75 Jim O’Brien
Yet another former Spring Classic champion, back when it was an unlimited event, the Menace is a former Incarace points champion and ex-Coventry Warrior, so he knows everything there is to know about racing here at Incarace. He always turns out a smart car and uses it well whatever the size, but it is in cars such as those in the Infantry where he has excelled in recent times.

212 Karl Hodgson
Hednesford is probably the furthest south that Kruncher Karlos has ventured for some time, as this wrecker is Northern through and through. From the Bank head dirt track to Warton and Barford, he has put in good performances all over the North in recent years, and was at his very best at Warton’s team championship last year, including a stunning follow-in on 620 Joe Burke. Hopefully we will see some similar hits from him today.

222 Matt Logan
Another of the Barton Boys and a true devotee of the Incarace scene, Matt rarely misses a meeting either here or at Birmingham and is the reigning Hednesford track champion. He has raced in the biggest banger race of them all, the Wimbledon World Final, on a couple of occasions, and has helped the Barton Boys win two Krash Kings titles. Likely to be on a winning run given the right breaks - certainly a name the South will be out to stop.

223 Brett Harrison
One of the hottest new properties on the Incarace scene, Brett made his Civil War debut last year at the wheel of an XJ, and gave a good account of himself. When you consider that he has only been racing for two years, you can appreciate just how much he has improved over the 2006 season. For this War he will probably be in one of his favoured Bluebirds, and he will be hard to beat on his favourite track.

269 Dean French
The current Incarace points champion and one of the promotion’s biggest stars, Popeye has several big wins to his name including the World Figure of 8 title some years ago. That’s not to say he always goes for the win, as he has superb wrecking ability and can be up there with the best of them whatever the meeting. A shrewd choice for the Infantry, and one which will surely pay off.

272 Gary Murrell
Another long-serving Incarace driver, Gazza is well known for turning out some top material, from vintage BMC tin to gigantic Yank tanks. His position in the Infantry will mean his material options are limited, but this won’t stop him from giving it his all for the North today - he can wreck in whatever car he chooses.

300 Dan Kirkbride
A leading member of the Levellers, one of the top teams in the North, Dan has a reputation as a destroyer and can also keep his car going even when dramatically shortened. He favours Capris for the big unders meetings so we could well see him in one of the increasingly rare beasts today.

310 John Nicholson
Undoubtedly one of the biggest starts in all of Northern banger racing, Eno is another Wimbledon World Finalist and a former 2 Litre World champion. The chief of Team V is one of the truly dedicated drivers, who is only now enjoying the success that his long career deserves. He has performed well in the Light Brigade in previous wars, and should be even more at home in the Infantry.

385 Roy Gedge
A regular at Skegness Stadium, Roy has raced under the colours of Team Black over the last couple of years, and put in a top showing at the 2 Litre World Final last year when his Bluebird refused to die. He has favoured Honda Accords for domestic meetings in the past, and if he produces one today he could be a rapid target that the South could find tricky to stop.

391 Wayne Shinn
A member of the all-conquering Aftermath squad, Ol’ Matey has been pulling off big hits up and down the country over the last twelve months, and will be looking to do the same today. His dedication to the team has seen him travel many miles in recent times, so let’s hope he is rewarded for his efforts here today.

400 Kevin Shinn
Some have called Shinny the most naturally talented driver to step into a banger in recent years, and he never, ever backs off from an opportunity to trash a car ahead of him. The Aftermath big hitter has travelled around with his team mates to all parts of the UK in recent months, and has pulled off some monster hits - who can forget his massive blitz on 60 Steve Laybourne at last year’s War? One thing’s for sure - he won’t be going for the win!

431 Shaun Abra
Long-serving driver who is a regular at both Trackstar and Incarace, Shaun favours the smaller cars and has taken a few wins here at Hednesford in the past. This fine all-round driver will probably provide a mixture of racing and wrecking when battle commences.

455 Ricky Finney
This Stinkbridge young gun could be, along with 400 Shinny, the Norths hardest-hitting Infantryman. He has risen through the ranks in the last two seasons, from the ranks of his local Brampton Raceway to the forefront of the sport, and put on a good show at last year’s War. Expect some heavy shots to rain in from him today.

461 Nathan Knowles
Son of Incarace great 164 Cheyenne Knowles, Nathan has been dedicated to the Midlands scene throughout his career, whether in the smaller classes or the unlimiteds. Although he has been known to win races this is not usually his style, as he has proved in previous appearances for the North. He will be hoping for a similar run to that he had in 2006, where his points proved vital to keep up the Northern challenge.

472 Matthew Cooke
Like 4 Cashy, Matt is an Incarace domestic regular and a Bluebird specialist, who made his debut a couple of years back after crossing over from the Hot Fords. Since then has been one of the regulars who make up the backbone of the Incarace domestic scene, and is justly rewarded with his Civil War debut today.

514 Paul Woods
Another of the famous Invaders team, Paul has won races at the Pre-68 in the past so has good knowledge of today’s battlefield. He is a regular entertainer at his local Warton track, and that is really what this driver is all about - entertainment. No matter how high the odds are stacked against him, Paul will always try his best to put on a show.

602 Shaun Cooper
Yet another of the squadron of Aftermath drivers who could prove such a vital part of this Infantry line-up. Like his team mates, Mr Moody’s travelling exploits have won him wide acclaim over the past year, as have his impressive wrecking skills. He can take the big hits as well as he dishes them out, and the South will find him hard to stop as he blitzes his way through the pack.

707 Lee Tomlinson
The man who first showed the potential of the MG Maestro as a banger is back for another appearance in the Infantry, and he will be hoping his perennially good Hednesford form continues. The Buxton regular came close to the 2003 2 Litre World title, and usually prefers to race rather than wreck here at Hednesford - so he will be a prime target for the Southern Army.

724 Mark Puddiphatt
Digger has been hiding away in the Peak District hills over the past couple of years, but exploded back onto the scene at Brum’s Children in Need bash last year by taking the final. A seasoned campaigner at Buxton, he can always turn on the style when racing here at Incarace.

751 Steve Thacker
Another of the raft of Buxton drivers present today, Steve is arguably one of the Peak District raceway’s finest ever drivers. He is truly an unsung hero of the sport with a will to travel, great driving skills and top wrecking ability. These days he tends to prefer to race for the win, but he should be able to deliver the complete package for the North today.

801 Jack Foster
A staple in the Infantry line-up over the past few years, the jointly registered Incarace/Trackstar man has won races for the North in previous wars, and always enjoys his trip to Hednesford. Much of his past success has come in DDs, and he will be going all out to stop the South whatever way he can today.

807 Chris Murfin
Another ex-Saloon Stockcar man, although thankfully Murf has decided that his loyalties lie in Bangers much to the North’s relief. He has put in some excellent showings for the Fen Tigers at the National Team championships over the last few years, and has a great knack of finding a path through pile-ups. A reliable asset for the North to call upon when the going gets tough.

917 Derek Jones
Another ex-Barrow man whose nickname sums him up - Mr Never Say Die. No matter what the odds, Mr NSD will never, ever give in and always goes down fighting. After taking a pasting in the Tanks last year he will be hungry for revenge on the South, and his love for more modern material could give him a speed advantage around the fast sweeps of Hednesford.

999 Scott Hill
Always a lively and controversial figure at both Incarace and Startrax, Scotty has left his Demons roots to join the new Scrapyard Screamers team, and is looking to recapture the great form we saw him in a couple of years back. He won the DD at Brum on New Year’s Day to get his year off to the perfect start, so let’s hope that form continues for the North’s sake.

TANKS

18 Ian Webb
Ex-Demon Webby has followed a few of his team mates into Barton Boys colours, helping them win the Krash Kings title among others. Few will ever forget the legendary follow-in he took from 166 Dogga on Hednesford’s West bend a few years back - probably one of Hednesford’s biggest ever hits - but it never affected him or his driving at all.

55 Graham Smith
Smiggy has a stack of racing experience to call upon, from his days with the famous Gone Gang at the much missed Crewe Stadium to his Wimbledon World appearance in 2004. The Gone Gang’s well documented battles with Stinkbridge prove that he knows a thing or two about head-to-heads, which will no doubt prove a bonus today.

69 John Cope
Something of a veteran of the Incarace scene, Copey has made regular appearances for the Flying Squad and always turns out something a little different as befits the status of that team. There have already been rumours circulated about what he will be bringing today, but will they prove to be just that and nothing more?

70 Simon Needle
Another dedicated Incarace driver, Simon may be a Southerner by birth, but in this sport he is 100% Northern steel. The Crash Co regular always tries his hardest to entertain, with plenty of rare and unusual cars and the ability to pull of some top hits. This all adds up to a driver General Kearsley could never afford to leave out of his army.

82 Wayne Quinn
Former Team Black star Quinney does most of his racing nowadays at Mildenhall, and his form there has justified his inclusion for his Tanks debut today. Another man who can give and take the big hits with a smile on his face, he will be out for nothing less than to stop the Southern challenge today.

83 Lloyd Isherwood
This man needs no introduction at all to Hednesford regulars, as he is an Incarace legend and has won titles including the Irish Open, Firecracker and Champion of Champions in the past. He has become a staple choice for the Tanks at this meeting and always puts on a top performance, so let’s hope for more of the same from him today.

101 Keith Roberts
This former Barton Boy may have turned his back on Bangers for a full-time career in BriSCA F1 Stockcars, but he still enjoys the occasional Banger bash. He has performed well in previous Krash Kings events for the Barton Boys, and still knows how to dish out the hits (as he has proved in his F1 on a few occasions!).

104 Mick Siddalls
Another star of the Barton Boys who has raced across the UK in the last few years, Mick’s form depends on whether he is in the mood for crashing or winning. In big events such as this he often prefers to get stuck in, so the South had better watch their mirrors.

119 Jamie Kitchen
Warton regular who makes the step up from the Light Brigade into a Tank for this year’s war. The 2006 war did not go well for him as he was blown up by one of his own team mates in a “friendly fire” incident (no names mentioned!) but the Team V man will be looking to bounce back this year. He has won the National Team championship with his squad in the past and will be looking to do even better today.

141 Dan Steele
One of the biggest names in Northern racing, Dan has performed superbly at both Warton and Barrow over the past few years, winning numerous titles and courting a little controversy with his hard hits. He will not let anything stand in his way today as he goes all out to blitz the South into submission.

159 Darren Scarrow
Mildenhall-based Scarrow has done most of his racing for the predominantly Southern-based Allstars team, and this will make him a major enemy of the Southern army this year. He can win races as well as crash, taking the Unlimited Suffolk Open Championship a few years back. Favours Jaguars for the big meetings, and can certainly use them well.

169 Mark Bass
A leading member of Team V, Smelly was once part of the now sadly defunct Northern Star squad, where he learned the excellent wrecking skills he will surely display today. He always turns out a smart motor and uses it well, with the Hednesford track among his favourites. Keep an eye out for this quiet achiever today.

185 Lenny Smith
Another Barton Boy who has now crossed over to BriSCA F1 along with 101 Nobby Roberts, Lenny is still a highly rated banger racer even now. He won a couple of races here at Hednesford as recently as 2005 so has not lost all his form, and he still possesses to ability to dish out the hits - as many BriSCA F1 drivers will tell you!

189 Richard Myshrall
Yet another Barton Boy, and this time one who has really shot to the forefront of the Incarace scene over the last two years. He won a race at Krash Kings 2006 and has been a major factor in Incarace’s busy domestic scene, rarely backing out of the chance to pull off a big hit.

200 Steve Farrell
Another man who needs no introduction to regular racegoers, Noon is a former member of the Blooz Boys, but will temporarily call off his battle against Stinkbridge as they ally to take on the South today. Noon is a driver who doesn’t care about finishing races, so long as he stops his targets one way or another.

209 Andy Brough
Not much has been seen of the Animal in recent times, barring his appearance at last year’s Pre-68, but today could provide him with the opportunity to bounce back into the big time. He only knows one way to drive, and that is flat out, so anyone who gets in his way today will do so at their peril!

213 Marc Watkins
Probably one of Incarace’s biggest stars of all, Woka has been there, seen it and done it in Bangers, from World Final appearances to DD wins in this very category. He cut back on his racing just a little last year, but could be in for a very big year in 2007, starting here today with what should be another rated performance.

262 Buster Godden
Another of Incarace’s finest names, Buster is a former points champion and World Finalist, but while still racing purely for fun. He often prefers to go for the win rather than pull off the big hits, and proved this last year by taking the flag in the opening Tanks encounter. A top bet to take a glut of points for the North.

340 Jay Atkinson
This Team V member has been a major follow-in merchant over the past few years, and his burial of 48 Kev Chadwick at Warton in 2004 is still talked about today. At last year’s war he entered a superbly tenacious performance, going down fighting in all of his races. Hopefully he will face better odds this year.

409 Carlos Pears
Former Stinkbridge man Carlos is now one of Startrax’s top names and a former Coventry Masters winner. He may be a shale expert but he can turn it on here at Hednesford as well, with a string of great performances down the years including his legendary hit on 60 Big Kev’s hearse at a Pre-68. Let’s hope for some similar action from him today.

450 Glyn Platts
Stinkbridge may be known for their wrecking but Glyn bucked that trend last year by taking the Coventry track championship. That doesn’t mean he has turned to rodding for points, as he will be unlikely to overtake anything red today given his hard-hitting nature.

451 Will Blackwell
Will’s career in Bangers developed alongside those of 450 Glyn Platts and 455 Ricky Finney, and Will has risen to become one of Stinkbridge’s star wreckers. Never bothered about winning, he simply wants to pull of the biggest hits possible every time he races. Will probably be a marked man by the South.

474 Matt Threlkeld
Since first hitting the headlines at the 2005 King of the Peak event, Matty has become one of the hottest properties in the sport, with superb showings all across the UK. He has risen from the relative obscurity of the Bank Head dirt track to become on of the main members of Team V, representing the North at many big events. Will surely play a starring role today.

591 Marc Blower
Another of the Barrow brigade, Blower has performed well for the Levellers at both Krash Kings and the National team champs in the past, and is always a firm favourite for the North at this event. It is not often that you will see Blower take a win, although it has been known to happen, so expect him to be in wrecking mode once again today.

601 Lee Usher
Once one of the most highly rated young guns on the Incarace scene, Usha all but disappeared from the scene a couple of years ago but is now back with a vengeance. He will only take a win if there is no-one ahead of him to hit, and will surely be an integral member of the Tank division this year.

617 Jack Overy
What can be said about this man that hasn’t already? One of the sport’s most prolific title winners and a superb natural talent whether racing or wrecking, Jack will hopefully be living up to his name today. He has produced some superb tactical driving in previous wars, and these tactics could help the North establish a psychological advantage over their opponents.

688 Wayne Morphet
Wayne is in the best form of his life at present, having made his Wimbledon World Final debut in November thanks to his success at the Belle Vue Terminator. A committed member of the Levellers and a true ambassador for Northenr racing, he will be looking to follow up his fine performances in previous wars.

753 Billy Cunningham
Young Gun is a member of the infamous Gypsy Crew side from Mildenhall and has raced at Hednesford plenty of times, so has the experience and the wrecking ability to make a big difference to the North’s war effort.

827 Nigel Hopkins
A late call-up for the North following a cancellation, Nogger has rediscovered some of his old form in 2006, putting in some stirring performances at Coventry as well as at the Hednesford Pre-68. Nogger always turns out some interesting tin and uses it well - indeed, at last year’s Pe-68 he was the only man to compete in both classes. He should be well up for the crash today, and should put on another rated performance.

998 Wayne Cottrill Jnr
A running mate of 617 Jack Overy and a driver of similar talent, Cotty Jnr is one of the few non-PRI drivers to have won the Arena World Final, and has also taken a large number of title wins at his Trackstar base. Will probably be going for points today - that’s if the South can’t stop him!

So, that’s the roll call - and what a line-up it is. The 2007 Northern Army looks the strongest for several years, and will be more than able to restore Northern pride given the right breaks.
That’s about enough from me, as the call to arms will be going out shortly, so I will sign off by wishing our Army the very best of luck - have a great day all.

Up the North

Dave Goddard.

10th January: Civil War is declared

The Battle lines are drawn at Hednesford Hills Raceway for the biggest Banger Demolition Derby in the World.

The legendary “Civil War” event takes place on Sunday January 14th at the midlands raceway. The Northern Army versus the Southern Army, in fully armoured up, madder-than-max, Banger cars.

No less than 160 of the Country´s finest “full contact” Banger drivers will be lining up in two massive armies … with only a handful of cars able to leave the arena at the end of the metal mashing event.

Organiser Mark Bond told us: “The Civil War is one of the most unusual and outrageous events you will ever see. Pure motorsports anarchy, with a huge dollop of pride at stake in the two armies”.

Over the last 4 years, the honours are tied, with two wins to each army, so Civil War 2007 is crucial. The Generals have gone all out to recruit the very finest wreckers in the country to their teams.

Banger racing in the UK is perhaps the most extraordinary motorsport in the World, and Hednesford Hills Raceway is the fastest Banger track in the Country.

Cars being used on the day range from tiny Nissan Sunnys to massive armoured Jaguars. Drivers can spend months building their destructive machine, turning a scrapyard wreck into a pure bred agent of destruction. Events attract enthusiastic crowds to watch some of the bravest and highly skilled drivers imaginable.

Local stars will be included in the ranks, and they will be joined by many huge names from the North and South arriving in the region to pitch in for their army.

With so many cars, and so much pride at stake, Civil War 2007 is a dead cert for an awesome day out.

“This is a seriously breathtaking event” Mark Bond told us. “More Mad Max than Scrapheap Challenge … but certainly a day out that will never be forgotten!”

Civil War starts at 1pm on Sunday 14th January at Hednesford Hills Raceway near Cannock.

Admission is £12 Adults, £6 Children, with Family Tickets available (2 Adults and up to 3 Children) £32.

For more information please contact Mark Bond on markbond@incarace.co.uk

PostSubject: Re: Civil War   Sat Jan 13, 2007 12:39 pm

SOUTH:

Light Brigade

47 Andrew Davies
To list Andy’s achievements would take up more space than we have here, suffice to say he has claimed silverware from the Cowdenbeath World Cup to the PRI World at Arena and most points in between, both in his own right and with the Condoms team. Helped to end old rival 998 Cotty’s day early at the 2005 event at Arena with a storming burial in case those with short memories doubted his ability to wreck as well as race. Simply one of the sport’s very finest.

67 Ricky Beasley
Ricky has burst onto the Standlake banger scene this year and has become one of the track’s top young drivers, showing good speed around the tricky oval in a variety of cars and finishing high in the points. Full of enthusiasm for his War debut and will see it as a great chance to make his name on the national stage.

83 Andy Beaven
Known for his smart motors, this well travelled driver made his War debut in 2004 with a Mk3 Cortina before switching to the smaller class for the last couple of years, he was on the receiving end from 191 Mucker in 2005 at Arena but performed well in the 2006 victory with a good all round show where he contributed with points and doing his bit to stop the white cars.

104 Lee Gumm
A regular in this class and makes his fourth appearance today, based at Standlake where he was third in the points but has frequently graced the other Southern venues, a capable and probably under-rated driver who can be expected to pick up points for the team.

106 Paul Gumm
Brother of Lee, also more than happy to get stuck in when the chance arises, remember his impressively sandwiched Granny Coupe from Bristol’s West of England just over two years ago? Drove well to take third place in the Light Brigade Final at Arena in 2005 when well outnumbered by Northerners.

123 Rob Smith
Grimley based Green Team driver who’s also successfully represented Real Steel at Krash Kings here, he made his debut last year in this class, landing a decent shot on 359 Mr Mint, and along with the other successful team members was rightly given first refusal for the 2007 event.

126 David Case
Marked his first appearance in 2004 with a race win to help his side to their first victory, and returned in 2006 with a well turned out Metro in which he scored points in two of his three races, always goes well in the smaller cars and definitely someone the North need to watch.

158 Shane Davies
Surely one of the first names on the list for any team event, always very tactically aware and if anyone can fix a wrecked motor it’s Shane, his ‘never say die’ attitude is exactly what’s needed today. Brilliant at the Arena War in 2005 and ended that year with the World title at Wimbledon to add to his array of team and individual titles. A great all rounder with a faultless attitude, his huge contribution to the sport assures him of legendary status. We’ll even forgive his appearance for the North (thanks to his RDC license) in the very first War!

172 Simon Byrne
More often seen in the bigger cars and was Granny powered last year but is boosting the Light Brigade today, Bernie is another of the sport’s most dedicated, travelling far and wide and more often than not with an immaculate motor. A regular and indeed previous winner (the unders in 2005) at the Pre ’68 here despite the distance from his Hampshire base, he is another with the ability and experience to shine today.

179 Jamie Phillips
The crash happy Aftermath young gun made his debut last year following an impressive first season in bangers, and has continued in the same vein in 2006 with some smart motors, always smiling whether giving or taking the hit. Had a dream meeting at the Dover Team Championship in August, causing lots of damage and taking his first race win as well.

188 Matt Fuller
One of PRI’s top men, Smoker took his home track’s World crown in 2005 after a faultless drive and is equally at home here at Hednesford where he took the 2 Litre World title barely a month later, he also placed third at Wimbledon World a couple of months back. A quality racer who has won at the War before but equally capable of dishing it out too and another who will keep pulling the car back out for more.

208 Jimmy Randall
The second of the three Midnight Runners in this class, Jimmy missed the early part of 2006 due to his involvement with the James Bond film Casino Royale. Rumours of star Daniel Craig’s Aston Martin being stripped for the Firecracker proved unfounded as it was on the slush! On his return to Essex, Jimmy qualified for the PRI World Final and helped his team defeat the Condoms to regain the PRI Team Championship so will surely be an asset to the side today.

331 Jason Jackson
Will make his seventh War appearance today after a hugely successful season when he was practically unbeatable at Arena Essex, winning the points by miles, also took the English at Buxton, blew up on the last lap here when leading the 2 Litre World Final and then drove brilliantly at the Wimbledon World Final in difficult circumstances to get his first gold roof, one that was richly deserved. Boxer is sure to be a target as he was at Arena in 2005 when 218 Rob Speak put him on his roof, but they’ll have to catch him first!

349 Lewis Price
Gladiator Squaddie makes his War debut after a busy season at Arena, most of which was spent warring with Bad Company. Definitely more of a wrecker than a racer, although he took a popular win at the Big Van bash, he’s another good team man who doesn’t know the meaning of the word defeat and will keep going to the bitter end. Like his Gladiator colleagues, his enthusiasm and willingness to fix the most battered motor will play a big part for the Southern Army.

396 Scott Mowlam
Scott is a Civil War regular now, usually in the small cars, and frequently joins the rest of the Weymouth Wallies at the Pre ’68 here, he was runner up to 172 Bernie in the unders in 2005 and turned out a Fintail Cambridge Estate for 2006 which he used to roll 520 Undertaker. Has also placed in the PRI World in a smart Laurel and will be expected to go well here too.

404 Rob Mills
The 2002 Autospeed World Champion has the impressive record of having competed in all seven previous Wars, another well travelled and experienced driver who has been there, seen it and done it and will be able to contribute either with points or stopping the enemy today.

482 Owen Spiers
The War often raises the profile of previously under-rated drivers and this could be the case here, Standlake based Owen is more than capable as he proved when scoring useful points in the Infantry last time and if the North concentrate too heavily on the so called bigger guns, it will be to their cost.

589 Simon Smith
Another Gladiator, Simon is equally adept at racing or crashing and spent most of 2006 on the latter as the team warred with Bad Co, earning major respect when he was carted off one Sunday after a huge T-bone but returned undaunted the very next day for the Bank Holiday Monday team meeting with a fresh car! Has been Jag powered for the last few Wars but will be just as happy with a Sunny today.

699 Darren Jones
Another Green Team man who is now a fixture in the team and has tackled each class over the years. As well as his War experience, Trotter has been here for Krash Kings and Pre ’68, taking a monster T-bone from 213 Woka in an all DS420 crash in 2005 and at the wheel of a P5 last year

791 Aaron Rowland
Standlake Young Gun, the son of Oxford Saint Micky and another who made his debut in the 2006 victory and earns the right to represent the South once again after some good showings including a stiff burial of one of today’s team mates Paul Gumm at the Mr Bean Memorial.

Infantry

9 Adam Elias
Mendips regular Mavis turned out an Oxford Estate to represent Team Six Bolt at his home track’s Crashmania Team bash in July, and he put it to good use taking the DD and Best Entertainer award too, and was here in October with another Cambridge, this time a saloon, for the Pre ’68.

57 Harry Rawlins
Another man with plenty of team racing experience, Harry has helped PRI to team success in several head to heads including a top show in the home leg against CAMSO, and more recently he did the laps that secured the PRI Team Championship for the Midnight Runners last October. He was Primera powered on that occasion and always seems to go well in them, so don’t be too surprised to see another today.

58 Martin Dalton
Rarely misses a big meeting here at Hednesford, took heat and final at last year’s Pre ’68 in a very quick Mk2 Cortina and has become a fixture in the Southern side, even managing to compete in both the Infantry and Tanks in 2004. Sampled a Bluebird at Ringwood recently but definitely favours the RWD stuff and knows how to drive it if he does opt for Ford power.

60 Steve Laybourn
Impressed mightily on his War and Hednesford debut last year, despite never even spectating at the venue before the day, he was well on the pace from the start and scored valuable points in two heats before ending up well wrecked in the Final. Very quick but loves a crash and will often repair a car that looks beyond help, this meeting is right up his street.

96 Dave Tancock
Made his debut in the Light Brigade last year after a season which saw him travel around a bit from his native West Country, a young gun with a top attitude typified by his smiling exit from an early London Open burial in 2005.

103 Lee Bugler
Hampshire based running mate of 551 Moley and also a former Blooz Boy, scored his biggest win to date at the St Day Blockbusta when the race was declared a few laps early following an unfortunate injury to Brian Daniel. Showed his all round ability in the Allcomers as he wasted 311 Helm in fine style and will be on the lookout for another big scalp this afternoon.

161 Karl Totham
Very experienced East Anglian, Flash raced with Spedeworth for many years before making the switch to RDC. No stranger to the War or team racing in general, he headed Team Flash at Mildenhall and Dover and will be well up to the task in hand, as he showed when winning the opening Infantry heat of 2006 to give us a great start.

174 Dave Osborn
Another of the Colchester Gladiators, Whipper shares the team ethic of enjoying a good crash and getting out with a smile before heading back to the pits to pull the car out, and he’ll do the same today. You can be sure he’ll get stuck in and give his all for the Southern cause.

186 Mike Pullen
He may have been a late replacement last year but put in a blinding performance which ensured he would have been one of the first on the list this time, his devastating wrecking doing much to ensure a Southern win – if you don’t believe me just ask 40 Kitch, 151 Dan Smith and 474 Matty amongst others! Same again please.

(1)88 John Reeves
Victor combined a busy year at RDC with some travelling and represented the Fen Tigers here at the National Teams in June where he destroyed 159 Rubble in the A Final having earlier taken a good third place in a heat. Did well on his War debut in 2006, showing good awareness to stop 400 Shinny and leave the way clear for Boxer Jack to win the second Infantry heat last year, he has the speed to win but will know who to stop if he’s not in contention.

196 Stu Palmer
Stepped in to replace 10 Paul Whiteman and will make his War debut today. A Lightning Rod pilot who hasn’t raced that much in the Bangers this year but made an impression at the Essex v Kent clash where he ended up on his roof after T-boning Danny Gardiner. He’s a very competent driver who could well turn his low profile to his and the team’s advantage.

206 Phil Milner
Turkish earned his call up with a season of wrecking for the Gladiators/Wrekin Krew, like colleague Squaddie he has perfected the pit bend handbrake turn, but is also quite happy to do it the right way round as well, proved by his destruction of 249 Jim Harding at the second Arena Team qualifier. Another who will give his all for the team.

242 Ricky Korpiela
As well as a few away trips, the hard working Korps did every Arena meeting that he was eligible for in 2006, a creditable feat matched only by 200 Skippy, and was rewarded with a top six finish in the points, a World final place and the Team crown with the Runners. A long time rear wheel drive fan, he made the switch to front drive successfully and developed a liking for Carinas which he used for Kent v Essex and at the Team Final. Very dedicated and under-rated in my opinion, along with brother Paul he has shown himself to be something of a DD specialist so watch out the North!

250 Karl Howard
PRI Gladiators latest Young Gun, could well cause a big problem for the North today. One of a quartet of Gladiators in this impressive Infantry line up. Joey has been thrown in at the deep end in his first full season of Banger racing, and has risen to the challenge and crashed his way through the season in true Gladiator style.

264 Mark Welland
Something of a Spedeworth veteran despite his relative youth, earned himself the ‘Mr Meetings’ tag a few years back as he clocked up an amazing amount of appearances. Injury has restricted his racing a bit in the last couple of years but his vast experience will stand him in good stead and I’d be surprised if he didn’t make a useful contribution today.

265 Ken Angell
Mark’s running mate Ken the Eco Warrior has also become a fixture in the Southern Army, I can recall him threatening to retire but like so many, he pleasingly thought better of it and returns to help the team today. A decent and reliable driver who will be there or thereabouts and a good bet to chip in with important points.

330 Roy Laybourn
Father of 60 Steve and has clearly passed on many of his attributes to him, Old Roy retains great enthusiasm and is an excellent all rounder who can race or crash as the situation demands. His season was spoilt by an unfortunate injury but he returned for a couple of Mildenhall meetings and took a race win to underline his class, he will be well up for today’s event.

363 Sam Trim
Mendips young gun Trummer has made a real name for himself for racing a variety of tin including a Caddy Seville at his local track’s Thunderbolt, he was selected to represent Mendips at the ORC Team Championship and raced in the Wimbledon World Final where he turned out a typically smart motor.

379 Adrian Clifton
The Worm makes his Civil War debut after an impressive season in which he travelled well, taking on the Runners single handed at Arena, representing Team Six Bolt at Dover, Mendips and Mildenhall and always in some well turned out tin, usually courtesy of the brushes of the talented Iain Brett. A welcome addition to the Army.

402 Phil Cleverley
Mendips based Filo has been racing for many years, and remains happy to put in the miles and the effort. Along with Mavis and The Worm, he took part in the Crashmania Team meeting at his local track and had a meaty head on with today’s team mate 439 Danny Sutton in the DD. He had a Capri then but is known to like a Vauxhall so don’t be surprised to see him Cavalier powered this afternoon.

406 Chris Bridger
The West Country driver has become a fixture in the Southern side in recent years, and is a reliable performer who should boost the points tally. Not known as an out and out wrecker but well able to put the bumper in when needed and will give and take the hits in the right spirit.

418 Ben Edwards
Ben joins his Wallies team mate Scott Mowlem in the line up, was here last October for the Pre ’68 in a Mk2 Cortina and has several previous War call-ups to his credit so will know what is expected of him.

433 Ben Smith
Most often seen on the Spedeworth East Anglian tracks, Ben enjoyed a decent season culminating in qualification for the World Final at Wimbledon where he turned out an immaculate Mk4 Granada for the occasion. I have to confess that I haven’t seen him race that often, but no-one makes it to the World Final without plenty of driving ability so there’s no reason why he won’t do well today.

456 Nathan Roberts
East Londoner Nathan first made his mark on the PRI scene in 2005 when he demonstrated his ability to race and wreck, and he scored well in the early part of 2006 until his Bad Co team began to war with the Gladiators and the focus switched to crashing, which he did equally effectively. Always builds a strong car and can be relied on to make good use of it.

549 Phil Smith
The younger of 336 Smiffy’s two sons, Phil graduated from the Ministox and looked at home immediately, riding high in the Arena points and earning a debut at last year’s War. As has previously been documented, most of this season has been spent crashing but in common with the sport’s top names, he’s equally at home racing or wrecking and will do whatever is required of him today.

551 Simon Whant
Former Blooz Boy Moley is a well travelled driver who has been here, there and everywhere, often with running mate 103 Lee Bugler. Loves a big crash and will be keen to do to some serious damage to the Northern Army this afternoon and don’t bet against him doing it.

706 Danny Lucas
Danny is Fleet based but often ventures further afield, his performances catching the eye at Standlake and the London Open amongst others, so he is no stranger to the big stage and won’t look out of place here.

730 Deane Mayes
A late call-up for Maisie Junior, but an inspired call by General Paul Adams. This second generation racer is a top prospect for Spedeworth honours, and not averse to a bit of racing; so expect some points in the pot for the South from this youngster.

741 Luke Parfitt
Captain D had a decent year in 2006 and has piles of pedigree with a convincing win at Champion of Champions as stand out in a top flight career to date. Will be looking to take some Northerners with, and never likes to pass over a good shot, but could also be a decent point scorer if the mood takes him. Top choice for the team.

823 Mick Murrell
The Smallfield based Metal Wrecker is just as much at home on the Hednesford tarmac as his local dirt, and to prove it he has won at the War before now. Seems to save some of his best performances for this meeting so well worth keeping an eye on.

PostSubject: Re: Civil War   Sat Jan 13, 2007 12:40 pm

Tanks

2 Jon Bricknell
The Standlake man takes part in his fourth War, the first couple in the Light Brigade and last year graduating to the Tanks with one of his favoured Volvos. Probably better known for the crash but certainly not a one trick pony as he proved at last year’s National Teams here, scoring points which helped the FBI to a fine second place in a top class line up.

7 Jamie Charles
The Quality Assured man makes his fourth appearance in all and his second in the big cars, will be looking to do some damage and does seem to like a Jag so an XJ would be a likely choice for him today and will be the car for the job.

19 Joe Mullarkey
The RDC star has made a big name for himself with his enthusiasm for travelling, having visited a long list of tracks in the last few years and turned out plenty of material too, including his Westy at the Mendips Thunderbolt last May which was jacked sky high by Rubble. A top driver and a top bloke with a great attitude to the sport, rest assured he will do his bit for the team.

45 Anthony Crowshaw
Lips delivered one of the hits of the year when he used his Jag to destroy 341 Jonesy at Smeatharpe’s Crasharama in May, tearing the diff clean out of the 341 Granny. A more than capable racer too but will probably be keener to do some serious damage to the Northern hopes.

46 Keith Painter
The current Autospeed World & Mendips West of England Champ and a former Spedeworth title holder too, Maverick put away 409 Carlos last year and often saved his most devastating performances for Spedeworth in the head to heads against Incarace. Equally at home racing or wrecking and will make his presence felt one way or the other today.

66 Dave Spooner
Renegade Spoons makes the long trip from the West Country once again, was Jag powered last year and put it to good use in blowing up 601 Usha and still managing to score useful points in the Southern triumph.

99 Ritchie Ahern
The Cheat is one of the quickest drivers around and it’s a pleasure to watch him throw a car around the track, he loves the shale but goes just as well on the tarmac and took the PRI World crown in 2000. A racer by trade but happy to put the bumper in when required, as his Team Black battles with the Bears have demonstrated.

133 Ben Wyatt
Werzal, along with brother 199 Jamie, has been one of the stars of the last few seasons with a string of impressive wrecking displays all over the country, and marked his War debut last year with a massive hit on Northern dangerman 83 Lost It Lloyd. The Northerners won’t want to see him looming in their mirrors!

159 Mitchell Mills
Rubble is another of the sport’s big hitters, turned in a vintage wrecking display in a Jag at Crasharama as he dished out a string of fine shots, but came close to winning the 2005 2 Litre World here as he was leading until taken out by a back marking 262 Buster and ended up third.

190 Steve Bailey
Autospeed star Pikey is another top all rounder, combining great race speed with the ability to deliver the big hit when needed, witness the shots on Ace Ash at Crasharama and 142 James Herman in the Blockbusta DD amongst others, he will be a key man for us today.

199 Jamie Wyatt
Like brother Ben, 199 Bona has impressed mightily in recent times with some top drawer wrecking, like several of his Southern team mates today he was in great form at the Blockbusta where his Ford Country Squire estate dished out plenty of damage all day, he put in a similarly good performance at Mendips West of England, an event he had previously won.

202 Mike Kilford
Very experienced driver with many years of racing under his belt, Kilf took a DD win at the Pre ’68 last October in his immaculate Austin 3 Litre, his tool of choice for the classic car meetings. He’s produced some of his best performances in Jags of late, including victory at the Ringwood Open in 2005,and I’d expect another XJ from him today, watch him go!

231 Stuart Dunn
Another young gun who has carved a good reputation in the last couple of years, often turning out an immaculate and quick motor and could easily be a big scorer for the team. Maybe better known for his racing than wrecking but won’t mind putting the bumper in when needed, just as he did on 409 Carlos last year!

244 Mike Bunyan
Running mate of 46 Maverick who started out at Standlake before switching to Spedeworth, scoring his best result to date when he followed his mate home in the 2004 Wimbledon World Final at the wheel of a simply immaculate Mk2 Estate.

252 Steve Bugler
From the same stock as ex-Blooz Lee, so plenty of heritage which would inicate a keen crasher. Should be Volvo-powered today on his first appearance at Hedno. This Spedeworth boy is a real dark horse, but may well impress on this big and very fast stage.

262 Buddy James
2006 has been a great year for the West Country rising star, who has travelled far and wide, including taking a Mk1 Granny to the Mildenhall Unlimited where he sustained a lot of damage, he spent a lot of time repairing it before making another long trip to Buxton for the King of the Peak the next day. It was all worthwhile as he destroyed Red Mist with one of his biggest hits to date before getting done in turn by 51 Simon Hields. With that sort of keenness, today should be a walk in the park!

271 Dean Goodearl
Deano proved his racing ability when winning the Autospeed World crown by a country mile in 2005, the soaking track proving no problem to him. Always quick and usually on the lookout for a crash but as his gold roof showed, he has all round ability and could equally rack up a lot of points or do a lot of damage.

336 Ian Smith
The veteran Gladiator is a regular in the Southern side, usually XJ powered, and will be pleased to see not only his two sons but many other team members in today’s line up. All will share Smiffy’s strong team spirit and will work tirelessly to repair the most battered car which is exactly what will make the difference on the day.

341 Andrew Jones
A man who certainly likes a crash, as is also partial to a bit of silverware as his Autospeed points championship last year displays. This win led to his debut in the Wimbledon World Main Race, and seems to indicate that this is a driver on his way up. Could well be a dark horse, not to be underestimated by the North.

381 Trevor Joyce
Joycey is another Posh Wash running mate of Werzal and Bona who we’ll see in the Tanks today, probably not quite as high profile as those two but nonetheless an able pilot in his own right who has ample experience of the big occasion and won’t be found wanting.

409 Joey Collins
Another of the strong Mental Team, Fat Boy Slim has turned out some impressively smart motors in recent years, none more so than his immaculate Wimbledon World motor a few months back. He was part of one of the year’s most spectacular crashes when Ace Ash buried him into 522 Weevil at the Arlington Southern Championship. He was on the wrong end of that one but is a quality driver who’s just as likely to be dishing it out today.

439 Danny Sutton
East Anglian star who has travelled widely including the long midweek journey to Arlington on many occasions and of course he had an immaculate 6/110 at the Pre ’68 here in October. Danny was Volvo powered at this event last year and put it to good use with a blinding shot on 451 Willie Blackwell and a repeat performance would do just fine.

481 Bernie Spiers
Standlake based, Bernie has featured in the last few Wars and tends to favour a Jag for the occasion, another who seems to deliver some of his best showings at this meeting, he has won here before and picked up useful points in the 2006 win, so it would be no surprise to see him do well again.

559 Neil Payne
Another Standlake regular but happy to travel and contested the Smallfield World Dirt before guesting for the Bears at Firecracker where he turned out a cool Ford Thunderbird, expect something a little more conventional from him today.

592 Mark Marchant
Kent young gun Mark is another who has been well involved in the domestic wars at Arena, joining up with Bad Co against the Gladiators where he delivered some fierce hits. Like running mate Deano, he is more than capable of doing the laps when needed but also loves a crash and will be probably be happier destroying the North.

593 Tommy Harrell
Running mate of Marchant and Deano, he makes his third appearance at the War having recently scored his best result to date when he took his Mk10 Jaguar to victory in the Firecracker final as the last man mobile.

702 James Dodge
Jimbo is one of the sport’s top entertainers, rarely seems to have a quiet meeting and is always a man to keep your eye on, wasn’t afraid to mix it with the Bears at Crasharama, giving Nutty Nige a big one before taking a revenge shot from Ash. Was Volvo powered that day and used a similar car to win the DD at Wimbledon World after a trademark determined wrecking show.

737 Ian Crandon
Crash returns to the big cars where he is arguably most at home having raced some impressive beef over the years, the Real Steel man’s local track is Standlake but he’s a regular here for Pre ’68 and Krash Kings and has taken part in the recent Wars too and will be keen to get stuck into the enemy again.

794 Simon Foreman
Better known as Shaggy, Simon is another man who can be relied on to turn out a smart and properly built car, we’ve seen him do well in Jags before and if that is his choice for today I’d expect him to do well for us.

804 Ben Small
Along with his brother Matt, Ben has built a fine reputation in the last few years after travelling far and wide to wreck, so it was no surprise to see him shine here last year at the wheel of a Volvo when he blew up 69 Copey.

589 Simon Smith won the first light brigade heat and the South had six/seven in the first ten. 741 Luke Parfitt won the Infantry 2nd heat, so the South are leading after first two heats.
