PSYCHOMANIA! - Sunday 13th September

There will be few fans and drivers in the Banger racing community that don’t know Andy Holmes aka PSYCHO and the enormous contribution he and his team have made to Banger Racing over many, many years!

Well, as has been much discussed on Banger forums, the big man has decided finally to hang his helmet up in 2009 and will be a big loss to the sport. Following on from fans and colleague drivers who wanted to see him off in style Andy has selected the revered track at SHEFFIELD for his grand Farewell.

Entitled PSYCHOMANIA! Andy’s big day will be on SUNDAY 13th SEPTEMBER at OWLERTON for Unlimited Bangers, support formula will be announced shortly.

The event will be followed by an after meeting Disco and Celebration in the Sportsman’s Tavern until 9.pm for presentations and serious reminiscing!

We are pleased to host this event for Andy and very much it is a day he will never forget for all the right reasons and no doubt there will be some tearful, nostalgic moments !
As a mark of respect, Stock Car legend Frankie Wainman Senior will be Stewarding the event for Andy. TrackStar boss Paul Butler has kindly opened the `sponsorship’ bids with £200.00 put up by the Norfolk based promotion.

Stu Kearsley and Simon Bennion will be assisting assembling the event with Stu heavily involved on the day.

All of us wish Andy every success and a great day - Andy himself will be organising bookings and inviting drivers etc and will separately announce plans and contacts for this major event which I am sure will be well supported and, as a promotion we look forward to and flattered to be hosting his `big day’.

Hmm how good would it be to see some Dahm Busters,Blooz Boyz,Barton Boys,Team Black and Gone Gang out plus of course the Bears - All teams that Andy's had some epic battles with over the years. Loooong shot i know but still nice to dream lol

Wonder if 08 Alko will come back with any other old TSB? and what about 428 Grumpy? sure he was mates with Psycho.

Seems the news of the meeting has got everyone going mad and dreaming who could be going etc.

The only thing which is a bit upsetting is Nudger is not here to see it,i bet he has seen a lot more of Psycho than most people and its a real shame he won't get to see Andy's swansong I wouldn't like to say for sure but i think i could say Psycho was 1 of Nudger's favourite TSB drivers, if not his all time favourite.

Psycho had a litle bit to say in the Battle of Britain programme yesterday,he gave away some clues as well.

Stinkbridge old and new,wonder how many old boys will be out?????? Mouth watering prospect!

Also "God" is a hint,if i'm not mistaken they used to called Roger Wilko God? Surely he's too old to consider post and ropes and heavy hitting though?

One of the heats will be an old boys race called the "Old Boys Gold Cup" for drivers from the 80's and early 90's! That should be cool as penguin piss whether its heavy or roddy.

Surely its gotta be 1 of the greatest line ups of the year and gotta be up there with greatest line ups of the decade along with the Polo Memorial etc.

PSYCHOMANIA Sunday 13th September

First of all i must give a big thank you to Steve Rees for giving me the opportunity to stage my last ever meeting at Sheffield, cheers.
Why pack in, young mind, old body, why Sheffield, why not. It is the best shale banger track in the country with its infamous post & wire fence, of which no doubt i will be stuck in through payback & action will be guarenteed on a track that i feel is not used enough for banger meetings & hopefully my meeting will encourage more banger fixtures to be held at the magnificent stadium. Anyway back to the Psychomania meeting which is in the 13/09/09. I am overwhelmed by the support for this meeting so far & everyone i have asked up to know is coming, even though it is a busy time for all & it is a late addition to the fixture list & for this i am most grateful. Whilst writing this i am at just over 80 bangers & have plenty more to ask but have not had the chance yet, this is why i have not shown a list of drivers yet, but it is very impressive & from all corners of the banger world. This is looking to be an all unlimited banger meeting. One of the heats will be the "Old boys Gold Cup" for the drivers that raced in the 80's/early 90's & has some top names in it already,(if not all top names), amongst the line up. All in all i hope the waether is on our side as there is a large Team Stinkbridge turnout, old & new & i dont want anybody who is Cumming to be Grumpy as the rain will be a great Leveller & i dont want the Boys to get the Blooz, covered in wet shale so they need a Posh Wash & get Running to the Bar(ton) like Predators or a Mob of Alco's, which shuts at Midnight, so hopefully God will be on our side & it will be a Legend! of a meeting & it wont turn into a Savage Winter & will not have to wipe our feet on a Matty, then blah blah blah. Enough clues there for now to wet the appetite for any banger fan or oval racing fan for that matter, for what is looking likely to being the biggest banger meeting seen in these parts for many a year. Only a month or so away now. The General starting his car soon or so Facebook says. See what i can squeeze out of Bud at Nudger's.

Plenty rumours flying round all the time,never know what to believe.

Time ticking,too many rumours flying so i'm gonna have to write em here so i don't forget em.

Kev Wilsher invited and has a clean Mk1 in his yard but doesn't want to do Unlimiteds any more after Warton MM.
Past enemies such as Barton Boys,Blooz Boyz,Gone Gang and Invaders all invited.
Other top teams such as Levellers,Mob,Posh Wash,Midnight Runners etc who haven't had such a big rivalry with TSB but are big teams invited. Posh Wash apparently are divided,some want to,some don't.
Loads of Old Skool TSB names mentioned such as the Ashley's,Autobutcher,Nobby,Dogga,Alko,Cyril (said himself in April he would give it a go) etc etc. Apparently anyone who raced in TSB was invited although not all may have accepted.
Plenty drivers mentioned who aren't seen much these days or for years - Pete Winter,Andy Brough,Keith Phillips,Barry Simpson,Richard Regan.
Bears not doing it as Belgium on the week before.
Team Black invited but Overy has his wedding and honeymoon,rest of team apparently not doing it.

All i can think of atm and all to be taken with a pinch of salt as i aint the foggiest where some of these rumours started.
