Just got in about 45 minutes ago, and I have to agree that today was a bit too tame for Bangers. F2s did seem more exciting, with ex-Banger Rod driver 705 Phil Manser rolling his F2 in one of the heats.
On the car front for the bangers, there were a grand total of 10 cars (although Benny didn't race his Mondeo Estate from last night). Mondeos were the most popular car, with 172 Manic returning his from last night, 017 Wayne Sowerby, 25 Jonathon Younger and 212 Karlos of The Orton Boyz racing 3, and 128 Gareth Todd somehow managing to race an estate that looked better suited for the scrapheap!
3 Bluebirds were also in attendance, from 121 Baz (didn't get their actual name) of The Orton Boyz, 162 The Abar (didn't get a proper name) and another "slightly used" vehicle with Toddy's roof fin on, driven by 30 Paul (didn't get a surname). The other car was a Sierra Sapphire from 136 Nicky Simpson which was most likely returned from the GNC.
Heat 1 wasn't the best heat, despite having the full 9 cars out. Only real pieces of action were 162 being spun into the wall by 25, 30 getting done by 017 and 128 being spun into the infield by 172 and getting stuck, which ended Todd's afternoon. 136 caught the bumps on turn 2 which ripped out a stone cover from his rear right. 212 won this one.
Heat 2 was quite boring, since there were only 4 cars out and all of them were Orton Boyz. Practically no action at all. Again, Karlos won.
Final actually got more exciting with what was probably the only real action until the DD, with 6 cars out. Main talking point was 30 being spun by Sowerby, only for Paul's Bluebird to catch either the bump or a divot on the infield on the pit bend and rolled it onto his roof. Luckily he was unhurt. 212 won this one too.
DD was okay, with 4 cars out. Sowerby got a hard shot from Younger, before Abar went up the back of 25. 017 then did 162, spinning her onto what looked to be a piece of broken kerb and getting stuck. Baz, who hadn't been very active, and Younger then decided to do a head-on, resulting in the DD finishing as a dead heat.
All in all, the lack of drivers was what tarnished an otherwise okay meeting (with only 3 other formulae this time instead of 6!)
Another point regarding the track is that the car park was substantially reduced as there has been work done on what looks to be another barn or something. At this point in time only the pillings have been put in place, but it does seem as if this could substantially affect the big events.
Next meeting is in 2 weeks, on the same day as Firecracker.
