My email is getting pretty full with stuff i need/want to keep in it and i've decided the only way to free up a load of space is to delete the barrow emails i've hoarded haha
Hope you don't mind me putting them on here for public viewing John,it is only a small amount of people that view this forum and most of them were part of the subscription list anyway.

Subject: Salthouse Mills / Roosecote RacewayHi All,
You've probably heard the news that Barrow Council will not allow houses to be built at Salthouse Mills until at least 2015 (Barrow Evening Mail last week).
That's 8 years away and it's a possible lifeline for racing at Roosecote if the new owner is looking to make the best use of the site until 2015 - renting out garages and working with the Club to get racing on again.
I will let you know about any developments (not including housing !)
Cheers,
John

Subject: Roosecote RacewayHi Everyone,
It was brilliant to see so many people turn up at The Friars on Wednesday night (at short notice) to talk about the possibility of Roosecote reopening for a couple of seasons.
I have spoken to the new owner this morning and he is still keen to work with the Club and keep the garages on until he gets permission for houses (probably in 2-3 years time). He has also said that he will speak to Robin to say that the track needs to be left in the best condition possible because it is part of the site and part of the sale contract.
There will be loads of work to do to get racing back on so we will need a lot of people who want to help out - including clearing rubble, repairing railings, plumbing/repair of toilets, and race day helpers - marshalls, lapscorers etc, etc. . The site is in quite a mess but the new owner will be looking to secure and fence around the track and pits area so that we can make sure that all spectators pay and that damage isn't done out of hours.
If everything goes to plan we will also need a Club AGM in early October for Committee posts and to agree things etc..(we may send out proposals for formulas and rules etc. before then for everyone to vote on so that we get things in place quickly).
We need to make sure that everyone who needs to know about what is happening gets the information so please ask them to send their email address to me if possible so I can keep them on the circulation list.
I will not be posting anything regular on Ovalchat etc until we have something definite to say because things still aren't certain for many reasons.
Thanks again for all the support and let's hope we can be back on track in 2008 !
Cheers,
John

Subject: Roosecote Raceway - 2008Hiya Everyone,
As you may have seen on Ovalchat or other websites the new owners are preparing a lease that would allow racing to carry on at Roosecote for 2 years.
Things still need to be finalised and agreed but its a big step forward.
To bring everyone up to date I have arranged a meeting at The Red River Club on Flass Lane, Barrow for Wednesday 23 January at 7.30 p.m.. Registration details for drivers and officials will be taken but no payment will be needed. If you can't make the meeting or live too far away please let me know and I will send you a Form after the meeting.
Hopefully see you on the 23rd.
Cheers.

Subject: Another Breakthrough ! Hiya All,
More good news today !
The new owners have sent me the draft lease and everything is OK.
I have also had the insurance quote through which is fine and extends to go-karts and mini-motos which I would like to get running on the track.
Don't forget the meeting 2 weeks tonight to discuss formulas and meeting dates and to get driver details.
All the best.

Subject: Barrow 2008 - SubsHiya All,
A few people have been asking about subs for racing. This is what I'm thinking although I would welcome any views back.
For the meetings this year I would look to charge £10/driver to race each meeting and put prize money up for top 3's in all formulas. In 2009 when there would be 12 months racing available it would be possible to do subs. to reduce the cost of racing per meeting and prize money would be lower or maybe none apart from big meets.
See what you think.
Cheers,
John

Subject: Barrow Drivers 2008 - Something to Think AboutHiya All,
Here's something for drivers to think about before the meeting on the 23rd :
Before I risk thousands of my hard earned cash (honest !), I need commitment off drivers (see Jeremy Kyle Show for definition of commitment !).
Also drivers want low cost racing.
To make this work, I am looking for 30 banger drivers and 40 rookies/bomber/lady drivers (total) to register with £75 before the end of January. These drivers would then receive £10 appearance money at each of the 5 meetings planned for 2008 - meaning that the cost of racing is just £5 / meeting if you do all meetings (fixtures to go up this week). Other drivers would pay £10 to race each meeting.
If drivers agree to this then there is a strong chance we will back racing.
See you on the 23rd.
Cheers,
John

Subject: Roosecote Raceway - Promoter InterestedHi All,
Its been a while since I've been in contact so apologies for that.
Anyone who keeps an eye on Ovalchat will know that a promoter is interested in re-opening Roosecote Raceway for at least 2 years. The promoter who is interested is Trojan International and they have received a negative press from many people in the banger world. I have yet to be convinced that they can deliver at Barrow but I am prepared to support them if people want things to go ahead.
I am trying to arrange a meeting next Wednesday (19th March), at 7.30 pm at The Red River Club on Flass Lane, Barrow to see what people think and to give everyone the latest information.
I will confirm the meeting in the next day or so when I have booked the room and hope to see you there.
All the best.

Subject: Trojan Promoter Hiya Everyone,
Unfortunately, the meeting arranged for Wednesday night has had to be cancelled because I am unable to support the promoter, Trojan, who are giving me no information about anything.
I will still be there on Wednesday night if anyone would like a drink and a chat.
All the best.
